Plumbing Repairs & Fixture Installation

Leaky faucets, running toilets, bad shutoffs and new fixture installs, the everyday plumbing work that keeps a western Kentucky home running.

Most plumbing is not a flood. It is a faucet that drips all night, a toilet that will not stop running, a shutoff that will not shut off, or a new fixture sitting in the box because the old connections will not cooperate. This is the bread and butter, the repairs and installs that are small until they are ignored, and then they are not small anymore.

The reason small repairs matter is that water never sits still. A drip you can hear is a part that has already failed, and a toilet that runs is water leaving the house and showing up on the bill. Catching these early is the difference between a quick part swap and a damaged floor or a soaked vanity. We take the everyday work seriously because the everyday work is what protects the house from the big surprise later.

Repairs we handle

  • Faucet repair. Drips, low pressure and worn cartridges on kitchen and bathroom faucets.
  • Toilet repair. Running toilets, weak flushes, rocking bowls and bad wax seals.
  • Leaks at the fixture. Supply-line drips, P-trap leaks and the slow seeps under a sink or vanity. A leak inside the wall or floor is a water line and leak repair job, and we do both.
  • Shutoff valves. Replacing seized or weeping angle stops so the next repair does not mean cutting the water to the whole house.
  • Hose bibs and outdoor faucets. Frost-damaged and leaking exterior spigots.
  • Water pressure problems. Weak flow at one fixture or across the whole house, traced to the real cause instead of guessed at.

Fixture installation

  • Faucet installation. Kitchen, bathroom and utility faucets, with fresh supply lines and shutoffs.
  • Toilet installation. New toilets set on a clean flange with a proper seal, no rocking and no smell.
  • Sump pumps. Sump pump installation and replacement to keep a basement or crawlspace dry.
  • Sinks, disposals and general fixtures. Bathroom vanities, utility sinks and the connections that come with them. Kitchen sinks and disposals live on the kitchen plumbing page.

Common repairs and what is behind them

Most repair calls come down to a handful of issues. Knowing which one you have makes the visit faster.

A faucet that drips

A steady drip is almost always a worn cartridge, washer or O-ring inside the faucet. It is a small part, but left alone it wastes water around the clock and can wear the valve seat until the whole faucet needs replacing. We rebuild the faucet when the rebuild makes sense and replace it when it does not.

A toilet that runs

A toilet that keeps cycling is usually a flapper that no longer seals or a fill valve that will not shut off. Both are quick fixes, and both quietly run up the water bill until they are handled. If the bowl rocks or smells, that is the wax seal at the flange, which means pulling and resetting the toilet so it seals clean.

Low water pressure

Weak flow at a single faucet is often a clogged aerator or a tired cartridge, an easy fix. Weak flow across the whole house points further back, to a valve, a pressure regulator or aging water lines. We start at the fixture and work outward only if the problem is bigger than the faucet.

No hot water or a slow drain

Some repair calls are really a different system. No hot water or not enough of it points at the water heater, and a drain that backs up after the trap is clear is a drain and sewer issue rather than a fixture one. We handle all of it, so one call sorts out which problem you actually have.

Sump pumps and a dry basement

A sump pump is one of those fixtures nobody thinks about until the power blinks during a storm and the basement takes on water. We install and replace sump pumps, check the float and the discharge line and make sure the pump actually moves water where it should instead of cycling against a clogged outlet. If your basement or crawlspace has a history of getting damp, it is worth testing the pump before the next heavy western Kentucky rain rather than finding out it failed after the water is already in.

Outdoor and seasonal plumbing

Hose bibs and outdoor faucets take a beating from the weather, and a frost-damaged spigot often does not show until spring when it leaks behind the wall instead of out the spout. We replace cracked and leaking exterior faucets and can set frost-proof bibs that stand up to a hard winter. For homes that sit empty part of the year, we will talk through shutoffs and freeze protection so a cold snap does not turn into a burst line while no one is there.

Repair or replace

You do not always need a new fixture. A dripping faucet is often a worn part, and a running toilet is often a flapper and a fill valve. We start with the repair when the repair is the honest call. When a faucet is corroded through, a toilet keeps failing or a part is no longer worth chasing, replacement is the better value and we say so. The goal is a fixture that works and stays working, not a parts bill that keeps coming back.

Age matters in that call too. A ten-year-old faucet that needs its third repair is telling you something, and putting another part into a fixture that is failing all over is money you spend twice. We give you the honest read on whether a fixture has life left in it or is past the point of repair, then let you decide with the real numbers in front of you.

When a repair is really a bigger job

A leak that only shows when you run a fixture is at the connection, and that is a straightforward repair. A leak that is there all the time, or one that shows up on a ceiling or a wall, is usually inside the wall or under the slab, and that is water line and leak repair. A drain that keeps clogging no matter how often it is cleared often needs the line scoured rather than snaked, which is where hydro jetting comes in. We find the real source so you are not paying to fix the same symptom twice.

Serving Benton, Paducah and nearby

We take repair and fixture calls across western Kentucky, including Benton, Paducah, Mayfield and Owensboro and the surrounding communities and lake-area homes. Repair calls in Murray, Hopkinsville and Madisonville get the same stocked truck. Older houses and lake properties often have their own quirks, from seized shutoffs to fixtures that were never quite right, and local work means we have usually seen the setup before.

Good to know

Repair & Fixture Questions

Is a small drip really worth a service call?

A dripping faucet wastes water and usually means a worn part that only gets worse. A toilet that runs can quietly add up on the water bill. Small fixes now beat bigger ones later.

Can you install a fixture I bought myself?

Yes. Bring the faucet, toilet, sink or disposal you picked and we will install it, replacing worn shutoffs or supply lines while we are in there.

How do I know if a leak is at the fixture or inside the wall?

If it only shows when you run the fixture, it is usually at the connection. If it is there all the time or shows up on a ceiling or wall, it may be a line leak. We can find it either way.

Why does my toilet keep running?

It is usually a flapper that no longer seals or a fill valve that will not shut off. Both are quick repairs, and both keep adding to the water bill until they are fixed.

Can you fix low water pressure?

Yes. Weak flow at one fixture is often a clogged aerator or worn cartridge. Weak flow across the whole house points to a valve, a regulator or aging water lines, and we trace it to the real cause.
