Stinson Plumbing
Kitchen Plumbing in Western Kentucky
Sink and faucet installs, garbage disposals, dishwasher and ice-maker hookups, and the leaks and slow drains that come with a kitchen that gets used. For homes in Benton, Paducah and the surrounding area.

Not every kitchen job is a full remodel. Sometimes the sink leaks, the disposal quits, or you bought a new faucet and the old shutoffs won't cooperate. This is the focused work around the sink and the connections behind it, done right so you are not back under the cabinet in six months. Planning something bigger with new cabinets or a new layout? That is kitchen remodeling, and we handle that side too.
The kitchen sink is one of the hardest-working water connections in the house. Supply lines, a drain, a disposal, a dishwasher and often an ice maker all share that one cabinet. When any of them is installed sloppy or left to age, the first sign is usually a damp cabinet floor or a smell you cannot place. Getting the fixtures and the connections done correctly is what keeps a small kitchen problem from turning into a swollen cabinet and a bigger bill.
What kitchen plumbing covers
- Kitchen sink installation. Drop-in, undermount or farmhouse sinks, including the drain, basket strainer and supply connections so everything seats clean and drains the way it should.
- Faucet installation and replacement. New faucets, pull-downs and pot fillers, with fresh shutoffs if the old ones are seized or weeping.
- Garbage disposals. New installs, replacements and the wiring-to-plumbing handoff so the unit drains clean and runs quiet.
- Dishwasher and ice-maker hookups. Supply, drain and air-gap connections done to code so you avoid backflow or a slow leak behind the cabinet.
- Shutoffs and supply lines. Replacing tired angle stops and braided lines before they become a flooded-cabinet problem.
- Leak repair under the sink. Tracing a drip back to the trap, the supply line or the disposal gasket, then fixing the real source instead of the symptom.
Common kitchen plumbing problems we get called for
Most kitchen calls come down to a handful of repeat issues. Knowing which one you have makes the visit faster and the fix cheaper.
A leak under the sink
Water pooling in the cabinet has a few usual sources. It might be the trap, a worn supply line, the faucet base or the gasket where the disposal meets the sink. The cabinet floor often hides a slow drip for weeks, so by the time it shows, the wood may already be soft. We find the source, replace what failed and check the parts around it that are likely next.
A slow or smelly kitchen drain
A kitchen drain that gurgles or backs up is usually grease and food building up in the line, not the fixture. If a plunger and a clean trap do not fix it, the clog is deeper and that is a drain and sewer job. For grease-heavy lines that keep clogging, hydro jetting clears the pipe wall instead of just punching a hole through the blockage.
Low pressure at the kitchen faucet
Weak flow at one faucet is often a clogged aerator or a failing cartridge, both quick fixes. Weak flow across the whole house points at the supply side instead, which can be a valve, a pressure issue or aging water lines. We check the faucet first, then work outward only if the problem is bigger than the fixture.
A disposal that hums, jams or quits
A disposal that hums without spinning is usually jammed, and that is often a reset and a quick clear. A unit that is silent and dead, or one that leaks from the body, is past repair and due for replacement. We tell you straight which one you are dealing with rather than swapping a unit that just needed a reset.
Kitchen sink installation done right
The sink you pick changes the install, so it helps to know the differences before the job.
Drop-in sinks
A drop-in sits in a cut in the counter with the rim resting on top. It is the most forgiving to install and works with most countertop materials. The seal around the rim matters, since a poor bead lets water seep under the edge and into the cabinet over time.
Undermount sinks
An undermount mounts below the counter for a clean edge and an easier wipe-down. It needs a solid countertop like quartz or granite and proper support underneath, because the basin hangs from the counter and the connections. Done right it lasts for years, but a weak mount or a bad clip is a basin that sags.
Farmhouse and apron-front sinks
A farmhouse sink carries real weight and sits forward in the cabinet, so it usually needs a modified cabinet base and careful drain alignment. This is the install where the prep work matters most. We set the basin level, build the support it needs and connect the drain and supply so the whole thing is solid.
Whatever style you choose, the install includes the drain assembly, the basket strainer and the supply hookups, plus fresh shutoffs if the old ones are weeping or seized.
Faucets, disposals and the connections around the sink
The fixtures are only as good as what they connect to. A new faucet on old shutoffs and brittle supply lines is a leak waiting to happen, so we replace the worn parts while the cabinet is already open.
Faucet installation and replacement
We install standard faucets, pull-down sprayers and pot fillers, and we set new shutoffs and braided supply lines where the old ones are tired. If you bought a faucet you like, bring it and we will fit it. If the deck holes do not match the new faucet, we sort that out before drilling anything.
Garbage disposal installation and replacement
A disposal install is part plumbing and part wiring, and the drain has to be pitched right so it does not back up into the sink. We mount the unit, connect it to the drain and dishwasher and check the seal at the sink flange so it does not seep. For a replacement, we match the unit to your sink and household use rather than selling you more motor than the kitchen needs.
Dishwasher and ice-maker hookups
Dishwashers and ice makers fail quietly when the connections are rushed. We handle the supply, the drain and the air gap to code so you do not end up with backflow or a slow leak you only notice once the cabinet floor swells. If you are swapping in a new appliance, we connect it and pressure-check the line before we leave.
Repair or replace
You do not always need a new fixture. A dripping faucet is often a worn cartridge or O-ring, and a jammed disposal is often a reset. We start with the repair when the repair makes sense. When a faucet is corroded through, a disposal motor is gone or a fixture keeps failing, replacement is the honest call and we say so. The goal is a kitchen that works, not a parts list.
When it is not a fixture job
Some kitchen problems live past the cabinet. A drain that backs up after you clear the trap is a line issue, and repeat clogs in a grease-heavy kitchen often need the pipe walls cleared rather than a quick snake. A camera check with video pipe inspection shows what is actually in the line before anyone starts guessing. We handle both the fixture and the line, so you get one team that can tell you which problem you have instead of two trips and two opinions.
Serving Benton, Paducah and nearby
We install kitchen sinks, faucets and disposals for homes across Benton, Paducah, Mayfield and Owensboro, plus the smaller communities and lake-area properties around western Kentucky. Lake homes and older houses often have their own quirks, from undersized supply lines to disposals fighting a long drain run, and local work means we have usually seen the setup before. We take the same calls in Murray and Madisonville.

Kitchen Plumbing Questions
Can you install a sink and faucet I already bought?
Yes. Bring the sink, faucet and disposal you picked and we will install them, replacing any worn shutoffs or supply lines while we are under there.
My garbage disposal stopped working, repair or replace?
It depends on the unit and the failure. A jam or a reset is a quick fix. A motor that is gone, or a unit leaking from the body, is a replacement. We tell you straight which one you are dealing with.
Do you hook up dishwashers and ice makers?
Yes, supply, drain and the air gap, connected to code so you do not end up with backflow or a slow leak behind the cabinet.
Why does water keep pooling in my sink cabinet?
It is usually the trap, a supply line, the faucet base or the disposal gasket. We trace the drip to the real source, fix it and check the parts nearby that are likely to fail next.
Is a slow kitchen drain a fixture problem or a line problem?
If clearing the trap does not fix it, the clog is deeper in the line. That is drain and sewer work rather than a fixture job, and for grease-heavy lines hydro jetting clears the pipe wall instead of just opening a path through the blockage.
