Tub install, replacement and accessible-tub options for homes across Benton, Paducah and western Kentucky.
Bathtub Installation & Replacement
Swapping a bathtub sounds simple until the old one comes out and you see what is behind it. Old drains, corroded overflow connections and supply lines that do not line up with the new tub are the norm, not the exception. We pull the old unit, fix what is behind the wall and set the new tub so it drains and seals the way it should. This is part of our bathroom remodeling work, and it can be a standalone job too.

A tub is one of the few fixtures that touches framing, the floor and three separate water connections at once. The supply feeds the faucet, the drain carries water out, and the overflow protects you when the tub gets too full. When any of those is rushed or left aging behind a finished wall, the leak shows up downstairs or in the subfloor long before anyone notices it at the tub. Setting it correctly the first time is what keeps a tub from becoming a ceiling stain on the floor below.
What bathtub service covers
- Bathtub installation. New tubs in a remodel or a new build, set level with a properly connected drain, overflow and supply.
- Bathtub replacement. Out with the old and in with the new, including the drain and overflow work that an old tub usually needs once it is out.
- Freestanding tubs. Floor-mount and freestanding tubs need their supply and drain brought up through the floor in exactly the right spot. We rough that in to the tub's spec.
- Accessible tubs. Lower-threshold and walk-in style tubs for households that want easier, safer access. We handle the plumbing connections; talk to us about what fits your space.
- Tub valve and faucet work. Replacing a tired tub spout, a leaking valve or a worn diverter so the new tub is not paired with old controls.
Why homeowners replace a tub
Most tub jobs start with one of these, and a few of them are worth catching early before the damage spreads past the bathroom.
The tub is cracked or worn through
Fiberglass and acrylic tubs flex over the years, and a soft spot or a hairline crack lets water reach the subfloor. A refinish can buy time on the surface, but a structural crack is a replacement. We check whether the floor under the tub is still solid while the unit is out.
A leak you cannot see
A tub that leaks at the drain, the overflow gasket or the valve often shows up as a stain on the ceiling below instead of water in the bathroom. By the time it is visible, the framing may already be damp. Pulling the tub is the only way to fix the connection and check the wood around it.
A slow or gurgling tub drain
A tub that drains slow is usually hair and soap in the trap, an easy clear. A tub that gurgles or backs up when another fixture runs points at the line past the trap, which is drain and sewer work rather than a tub problem. We can tell which one you have before anyone starts pulling fixtures.
Access and safety
Stepping over a high tub wall gets harder with age or an injury. A lower-threshold or walk-in tub keeps a bathing option in the house without the climb. We handle the plumbing side and confirm the unit fits the existing rough-in.
Tub types and what each install needs
The tub you choose changes the work behind the wall, so it helps to know the differences before you buy.
Alcove tubs
The standard three-wall tub most homes have. Replacement is the most straightforward when the footprint stays the same, since the drain and supply usually line up close to the original. The seal where the tub meets the surround is where most callbacks start, so we set it tight.
Drop-in tubs
A drop-in sits inside a built deck or platform. The plumbing has to be accessible for the connection and any future service, so the deck and the access panel get planned together with the rough-in.
Freestanding tubs
Freestanding tubs make a statement, but they are unforgiving on the plumbing. The drain and the supply come up through the floor in an exact spot, and a freestanding faucet adds its own rough-in. Measure wrong and the tub does not sit where it should, so we rough this in to the manufacturer's spec.
Walk-in and accessible tubs
Walk-in tubs have a sealed door and often a faster-fill and faster-drain requirement, so the supply and drain sizing matters more than on a standard tub. Bring us the unit you are considering and we will confirm the connections it needs and whether your space and rough-in suit it.
The surround and the waterproofing
A new tub is only half the job. The wall around it has to shed water back into the tub, not behind it, and that is where a lot of older bathrooms quietly fail. When we set a tub we look at how the surround meets the deck, whether the existing waterproofing is intact and how the spout and valve penetrate the wall. A clean seal at those points is what keeps water out of the framing. If the surround or tile needs work to seal correctly, that becomes part of the bathroom remodeling scope, and we walk you through what the wall actually needs rather than tiling over a problem.
Tub or shower
Plenty of homeowners reach this job and decide they would rather have a walk-in shower than another tub. A tub-to-shower conversion opens up the space and removes the step-over, but a tub still matters for resale and for bathing kids. There is no single right answer, so we price a replacement tub and a conversion side by side and let you compare real numbers instead of guessing.
What to expect from the job
We start by confirming the footprint and looking at what the connections behind the wall actually are. Removing the old tub is where surprises show up, so we plan for the drain, the overflow and the supply needing work even when the quote is for a straight swap. If the tub size or location changes, the drain and supply move and the scope grows, and we tell you that up front rather than after the wall is open. Aging supply lines feeding the tub are worth replacing while the wall is accessible, and we flag any water line that is past its prime so you are not opening the same wall again next year.
Serving Benton, Paducah and nearby
We install and replace tubs for homes across Benton, Paducah, Mayfield and Owensboro, plus the lake-area homes and older houses around western Kentucky where the rough-in rarely matches a new tub on the first measurement. Local work means we have usually seen the setup before and come ready for it. Tub swaps in Hopkinsville and Murray run on the same schedule.

Bathtub Questions
Can you replace a tub without redoing the whole bathroom?
Often yes. If the tub footprint stays the same, it is a focused job. If you are changing size or location, the drain and supply move, which is a bigger scope. We will tell you which one you are looking at.
Do you install accessible or walk-in tubs?
We handle the plumbing connections for accessible-style tubs. Bring us the unit you are considering and we will confirm it fits the space and the existing rough-in.
Should I convert my tub to a shower instead?
It depends on how you use the space and whether you want a tub for resale. We can price a replacement tub and a tub-to-shower conversion side by side.
How do I know if my tub leak damaged the floor?
You often cannot tell until the tub is out. Once it is pulled, we check the subfloor and framing around the drain and overflow, and we tell you straight if anything under there needs attention before the new tub goes in.
My tub drains slow, is that the tub or the line?
A slow drain is usually hair and soap in the trap, a quick clear. If the tub gurgles or backs up when another fixture runs, the problem is in the line past the trap, which is drain and sewer work rather than a tub fix.
